Rodin and his muse and fellow artist, Camille Claudel, were arguably the first modern sculptors.  Their story makes a compelling start to this course.  Moore, Hepworth and Picasso will feature, as will the work of the German expressionists and Brancusi and Giacometti. The course will also cover sculpture in London, particularly Epstein’s controversial work.  The art of Anthony Gormley and his contemporaries will raise the question, “What is the meaning of sculpture in the present day?”
