Archaeology is the study of past human societies through the examination
of the things they have left behind, whether they be bits of pottery,
bones or castles. On this course we will be looking at various aspects of
archaeology from prehistoric times up to the recent past, such as henges,
Bronze Age field boundaries, Iron Age hillforts, medieval churches and the
country’s industrial heritage. Examples will be taken, as far as
possible, from Norfolk. At the same time students will learn about the
techniques that archaeologists use.
